+ Classes were cancelled today. It was tiring going home because i needed to ride a bus, e sobrang init pa.

+ Jeff is not my classmate anymore. We see it as a good thing pa din. Pero syempre, We miss each other. Tapos ngayon, He's in cavite for 3 days and 2 nights pa.

+ I miss Syete :) I'm excited to see them again. kaya lang most probably, christmas pa yun...

+ Our group is the first one to present Grand Case. First month of second semester is a busy month. Kinakabahan na ako.

We were able to watch and listen to so many bands in just one concert. Plus we were able to took pictures pa. Thanks to lunar_delirium who gave me 4 VIP passes. :) We really enjoyed the night. Sorry na we have to leave early... Hope you're having your rest now.

Sembreak started with a make up duty in Comembo... It's quite sad that we weren't able to get at least one case. But my groupmates and I were able to enjoy that last two days. We ended it with a ward class.

Yesterday, I attended a seminar. It is the 4th Annual Student Conference with a theme of "Enhancing Competencies of Nursing Students" at Fiest Pavilion, Manila Hotel. It was a great opportunity to attend a seminar like that. I really learned a lot. Speakers were great.

I was hoping to see prtnrs_n_rhyme and marga. Si mj pala umatend sa UST. Sayang...

I have not updated my journal for almost a month now... i have been busy in school.. daming ginagawa.. sagad yung monday to saturday e.. nakakapagod pero kaya pa naman.. update lang ako..

First Rotation of Duty

First Rotation of duty is finished. Duty in the nursery was tiring but fun and fulfilling. Despite the deadlines of paper works the next day kahit my duty, i've always looked forward to seeing all the babies. All of them are so cute... gugustuhin mo talaga magkaanak.. One thing makes me so sad is that there are babies that really are suffering in that early stage in their lives. I mean baby palang sila wala pang oras ung buhay nila nka IV na kagad, injections kagad, nothing per orem (mouth) na kagad.. most of these cases kasi is because of the wrong practices of the mother when they are pregnant.

I just want to share this one story in the area. We were not allowed to handle babies in the ICU because of some reasons but we are able to observe what staff nurses do. When we went to the ICU to observe.. there's this baby who is already 4months in the incubator (5 months palang nanganak na mommy nya)... naawa tlga kami.. kasi sobrang payat, my IV line, she's eating through a tube.. tapos we saw a card na nkatape sa incubator.. the letter goes something like this.. "Happy Birthday Alyssa. You are now 4 months and we are so happy that you're out of the ventilator na. Your mama and papa are so excited to have you here. Hope that everything will be ok. Papa Jesus will always take care of you. Don't worry about the bills babe, its ok that we don't have a nice car, a nice house.. as long as you're with us. We were thinking that maybe you're just excited to see us that's why you came out that early. We are always praying for you. Be strong babe." Tapos pahabol nkalagay: "Your pet Wana (Arwana) is waiting for you na." sobrang ntouch ako, naluha nga ako.. tapos my picture pa ng parent nya sa incubator.. and my toys din.. lagi syang dinadalaw.. wala lang share ko lng..=)

Last baby that i handled, cnircumcise sya.. wawa.. pero cute sya, nakakuha nga ako picture nya e, umiiyak nga lng sya nun.. hehe.. takas lang kasi.. hndi kasi pde e.. try ko upload next tym.. dami ko pa gusto kwento, lalo na yung isang staff nurse na antipatika.. kaya lng maiinis lang ako e.. ;)

This week, mejo pahinga.. katapos lang kasi ng first rotation tpos proposal week ng 4th year, kagabi sarap ng kumpletong tulog, kaya sarap ng gising ko kanina.. lang iniisip na deadline.. pero Next week, we'll start our duty in the Delivery Room... excited nako.. pero ang schedule is 12nn-10pm na naman.. mejo nakakapagod kasi e.. pero ok lang mejo nasanay na, for two weeks lang naman tapos 6am-2pm na..

Yesterday, our 6am - 2pm classes has started. It supposed to be a duty but we need necessary input first before exposing us to the delivery room, nursery room and lying-in (community). Lecture on admission of the newborn (things you need to do once the baby is out), catheterization, enema, mechanism of labor, injections, IV solutions and computations were given. The best part of it is the return demonstration of intramuscular (IM) injection and intradermal (ID) injection.

We had our partners for return demonstration. I was nervous that i might do the wrong way or might hurt my partner. I was the third person to demonstrate IM. When i removed the cap of the needle, tumama naman sa finger ko nagdugo na ncontaminate ko pa yung needle. Naging madali lang, kasi palitan mo lang nmn yung needle e. Sa utak ko, alam ko yung gagawin ko which is to insert the needle (yung buo which is 1in.)first then aspirate then inject. But because of anxiety (accdg to my clinical instructor , i was anxious.. nung hinawakan nya ako ang lamig ko daw, goood thing lang d ako nanginginig, kasi pag nanginginig masakit talaga siya), ang nagawa ko is I insert the needle 1/2 inch palang tapos I immediately inject it kagad, that's why lumabas tuloy yung solution... and you know what naluha ako after... kasi i was afraid becuase of many things. one, the instructor might get mad; two, my partner got hurt; three, i don't know what to do next. My clinical instructor was very patient. She told me to just repeat it. Here goes my second chance, i was now confident that i can perform it but again i made an error. When im trying to insert the needle, nafeel ko ang tigas parang ayaw pumasok kaya inalis ko.. this time, mejo napagalitan nako.. my CI is aking me if i'm decided to inject or not.. she is telling me that once i've started something i should not be hesitant to finish it.. we will be dealing with newborn babies kaya dapat daw sure ako palagi sa ginagawa ko.. she gave me another chance, and the third one was succesful. At last! naawa nga ako sa partner ko e.. pero ok lang naman sa IM d masyado masakit unless your shaking. haayyy... kaya bumawi ako sa ID, first try was succesful. Kaya lang yung partner ko naman yung umulit, masakit talaga siya kasi may medicine. Kaya npasigaw ako twice din.. hehe.. (",)

Next week, we'll be starting our duty in the hospital and community. There will be four rotations (1 month each rotation, 3x a week). The area for our first rotation is at the Nursery Room of Ospital ng Makati. Ideally it should be 8 hours per shift. Since there are other schools who affiliate in the said area, our schedule will be 10-10-4. For Monday and Tuesday, our duty starts at 12nn and end at 10pm. i don't know yet for wednesday. I am excited and at the same time nervous because we will be dealing with real patients (babies!) now.

Jeff and I are not groupmates. He has a different schedule. So far, nakaka-adjust naman. Magkita naman kami Thursday and Friday classes e.

Nakakatawa ako kanina, I rewarded myself with a Go-Go Taco (KFC)... wala lang.. i just want to.. hehe :-)

Nakapahinga na ako konti.. Sarap. Tom class starts at 9 and ends at 7 in the evening. Hay...

I've been trying to use livejournal several times already. I think this is already my third account. Ngayon lang ako sinipag na i-browse kung pano tong livejournal... hehe.. tamad.. hope this time, matutunan ko na..

My family and I went to Jubilation New Biñan (project of Earth and Style, where my dad works) to see the location and the model houses. The model house was beautiful, but the village is not yet fully established. I'm expecting to see what i saw in the magazine (which is really beautiful)... hehe.. according to papa, 2-3 years pa.. Right after, we went to General Trias Cavite because my dad needs to participate in the Open House of another project but we didn't stayed that long because we are all hungry. We ate at King's Bee, at kami lang ata ang hindi Chinese dun.. lahat ng pumapasok mga singkit ang mata.. hehe.. Then we went to SM Dasmariñas to buy black pants and white shirt for my brother.. i thought after that uwi na kami..pero hindi.. nagpaayos pa ng 3 cell phones.. we waited for almost an hour pero 1 lang nagawa.. Halos naikot na namin yung mall para magpalipas ng oras.. pgbalik namin, hndi daw nila kayang gawin.. parang kami, ok.. salamat a.. sna sinabi nalang kagad.. Kaya I slept in the car sa sobrang pagod..
